Mario Colunga

Mario Colunga, 39, of Groves died Wednesday, November 15, 2017.   He was born June 2, 1978 in Beaumont and was a lifetime resident of the area.

Mario was known for his love of life and service to others. He was generous to everyone he came in contact with and touched countless people with his free spirit, dimpled smile, and contagious laugh.   He loved cooking, music, riding Gertrude and working at Cowboy Harley Davidson. His favorite place to be was on the open road with his Already Dead Motorcycle Club brothers. He lived his life to the fullest. His light shown bright and was felt by those lucky enough to be loved by him, and he will never be forgotten.

Survivors include his mother, Terrie Cimino, his special dad Sam Cimino of Groves; sisters, Laura Bostic of Round Rock, Texas and Jennie Colunga Acosto and her husband, Sammy, of Orange Park, Florida; girlfriend, Emily Head of Houston; grandmothers, Shirley Saatzer of Wildwood and Laura Cimino of Port Arthur; nieces and nephews, Jake and Kayla Bostic and Brenner and Lillie; uncles, Zeke Colunga of Beaumont and Michael Loupe of California; his brothers in Already Dead Motorcycle Club; and numerous other relatives and friends. He will especially be missed by his faithful canine companions, Lou Dog and Skippy and his Electra Glide, Gertrude.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roberto Colunga.

A gathering of Mr. Colunga’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 am, followed by his funeral service at 11:00 am, Monday, November 20, 2017, at Life Church, 4600 Jimmy Johnson Boulevard, Port Arthur, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Cremation arrangements will be under the direction of Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Colunga’s memory to Unity Recovery House in Beaumont. Many lives have been changed for the better in recovery by Unity Recovery House, including Mario’s, as he struggled throughout his life but died knowing sobriety and was on fire with his program at the time he left this world.
