William “Bill” Eugene Carroll

April 21, 1928 - November 14, 2017

William “Bill” Eugene Carroll, 89, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017. He was born on April 21, 1928, in Beaumont, to Lelia Scarborough Carroll and Yandell Duke Carroll.

He received his undergraduate degree and his law degree from the University of Texas in Austin. He was licensed to practice law in Texas and Oklahoma. Prior to turning to the field of bank related law, he was employed by the City of Beaumont as an Assistant City Attorney and served as District Attorney of the First Judicial District of Texas (Jasper, Newton, San Augustine, and Sabine Counties). At the time of his retirement, he was Vice President and General Counsel of Bank First, Oklahoma’s largest state-charted banking organization.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathryn Carroll Hanlon and her husband, Jerry, of Port Neches; son, Robert J. Carroll and his wife, Tami, of League City; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Schaeffer Bartlett Carroll; parents, Y.D. and Lelia Carroll; and sister, Nora Ann Carroll Carey Stevenson.

A gathering of Mr. Carroll’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A private family committal will take place at a later date.
