William “Lightnin” Johnson, Sr.

William “Lightnin” Johnson, Sr., 80, of Nederland, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was born on January 25, 1937, to Effie Smith Johnson and Robert Morris Johnson.

William loved horses and rode in Rodeos when he was younger. He enjoyed buying and selling horses and he enjoyed his dogs. His pastime was old westerns.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-seven and a half years, Velma Johnson, of Nederland; daughter, Shari Ebach of Newton; sons, Jimmy Guinn and his wife, Karen of Village Mills; Keith Guinn and his wife, Traci, of Suwanee, Georgia; William Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Newton; and D.M. Johnson of Newton; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jackie Evans of Houston and Elaine Bryan of Nederland; and many nieces and nephews .

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Brenda Robinson and Betty Johnson; and sisters, Mary Singleton and Earline Johnson.

A gathering of Mr. Johnson’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
