Wiley P. Mangum, 87, of Kountze, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. Born on November 14, 1924, in Groveton, to Nancy Bennett Mangum and Sol W. Mangum, he was a longtime resident of Kountze.

 

Wiley was a United States Army veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired with Central Freight Lines as a truck driver and was an auxiliary volunteer with the Veterans Administration Medical Clinic in Beaumont.

 

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Mangum; daughters, Yvonne Tarnow and her husband, Kenneth, of Beauxart Gardens; and Amanda Hebert and her husband, John, of Lumberton; stepson, Lynn Edward Lee, Jr. and his wife, Angie, of Kountze; stepdaughter, Pamela Burks and her husband, Jerry, of Magnolia Springs; seventeen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Marvin Mangum; and daughter, Cornice Irion.

 

A gathering of Mr. Mangum’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2012, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze.  Interment will follow at Hooks Cemetery, Kountze.
