Eleanor Dora Canizaro Danna

Eleanor Dora Canizaro Danna
October 3, 1923 - June 29, 2012

Eleanor Dora Canizaro Danna, 88, of Beaumont, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. She was born on October 3, 1923, in Beaumont, to Mary Bruno Canizaro and Joseph J. Canizaro.

Upon graduation from South Park High School, Eleanor worked at Kress Department Store in downtown Beaumont. She was engaged to the love of her life, Charlie V. Danna, Sr., during the time he was serving in the United States Army Air Corps and stationed in India. Upon his return, they were married on February 24, 1946, at St. Joseph Catholic Church and spent sixty wonderful, happy years together.

Eleanor had the gift of playing beautiful music on her keyboard without reading music, of cooking the most delectable meals without recipes, and growing beautiful plants and vegetables in her garden with the green thumb of the most avid gardener.  Her greatest joy in life was her children, and she remained the most devoted, loyal and loving mother and grandmother this world has ever known.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Vincent Danna, Sr.; and brothers, James M. Canizaro and Bennett Canizaro.

Survivors include her sons, Lyneol “Lenny” Danna and his wife, Janie, of Tyler; Charlie V. Danna, Jr., of Beaumont; and Richard Danna and his wife, Diane, of Austin; daughter, Cheryl Baize and her husband, Cliff, of Lakeway; grandchildren, Marc Danna and his wife, Chrissy; Paige Deatherage and her husband, Kent; Brittany Baize and her husband, Salmeron Barnes; and Trey Baize; six great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.

A gathering of Mrs. Danna’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Broussard’s. A graveside service for Mrs. Danna will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.
