Clara “Momma” Lois Flores, 91, of Beaumont, died Monday, July 2, 2012, at Silsbee Oaks Health Care. She was born in Brackettville, Texas, on March 11, 1921, to Laura Breiten Montalvo and Rupert Montalvo.
Family was her life. Clara never met a stranger and loved whoever came into her life, no questions asked. She also loved her Astros, whether they won or lost. Her favorite pastimes were playing bingo and going to the casinos.
Survivors include her children, Virginia F. McCarty and her husband, John, of Silsbee; Joe Flores and his wife, Sindy, of Nederland; Rupert Flores of Silsbee; and Jesse Flores of Beaumont; brother, William Montalvo of Georgetown; and sister, Esther Callaway of Silsbee; grandchildren, David Flores, Karen Flores Burnett, Jamie Gleason, Harley Flores, Ernest Flores, and Annie Henderson, and a host of eleven more grandchildren who she loved very much; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lucio G. Flores; daughter, Laura Mae Flores; and sister, Margaret Austin.
A Rosary for Mrs. Flores will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2012, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
