April 11, 1936 - July 18, 2012

Billy Ray Hanley, 76, of Winnie, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Winnie Community Hospital. He was born April 11, 1936, in Flatwoods, Louisiana, to Gladys Guin Hanley and Willie V. Hanley.  Billy worked as an industrial insulator and was a member of the Asbestos Local 22. In his spare time, Billy enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a longtime member of Longview Baptist Church in Deville, Louisiana, and often volunteered at the food bank. 

 

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Nell Hanley of Winnie; sons, Mitch Hanley and his wife, Joni, of Winnie, and Wayde Hanley and his wife, Connie, of Port Arthur; daughter, Sheree Hanley of San Antonio; grandchildren, Mitch Hanley, Jr., Shae Hanley, Phoebe Hanley, and Taylor Hanley; six great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Hanley and his wife, Linda, of Toledo Bend; sisters, Terry Hanley of Port Arhur, and Sandy Mahan of Center; and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Billy is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Vonnie V. Adams.

 

A gathering of Mr. Hanley’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, 1024 Louisiana State Highway1207, Deville, Louisiana.
