Beverly Anne Scarborough, 80, of Kountze, died Friday, March 29, 2024.  She was born on November 5, 1943, in Port Arthur, to Vallie Lindsey Robison and Kermit Edward Robison. Survivors include her husband, Oscar Scarborough; sons, Randy Scarborough of Richmond, Mark Scarborough of Wildwood, and Justin Scarborough of Kountze; grandchildren, Austin Scarborough of Kountze and Mason Scarborough of Wildwood; and step grandchildren, Wyatt and Jaxon Brown of Kountze.  She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karla Scarborough; and sister, Geda Nunley. A gathering of Beverly’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2024, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze.  Her interment will follow at Holland Cemetery, Kountze.

He was a naturally inquisitive and bright child who excelled in school and enjoyed following Chicago’s professional sports franchises, especially the Cubs and the Bears. He loved American history and was a patriot of a bygone age when decency to your fellow Americans was more important than getting your way all the time. He talked fondly all his life of family vacations fishing on Michigan’s lakes. While at Wheaton Central High School he participated in the high school band and graduated in 1964. He was born on July 6, 1942, in Orange, Texas, to Helen Hales Shifflett and Joe Shifflett. Jimmy was a devoted husband of 45 years, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather. He cared deeply about his family and community, always guided by a strong moral compass that led him to fight for what was right. After serving in the United States Army actively from 1959 to 1962, Jimmy performed various odd jobs throughout the Golden Triangle area, as well as becoming a lifelong member of the Port Neches Masonic Lodge, and then pursued a career in law enforcement in 1969. Bea, as she was known to her friends and family spent most of her life in Kountze.  After graduating from Kountze High School, she attended Beauty College.  Over her life she cut and curled hair for the ladies of Kountze.  Besides her work she enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and numerous nieces and nephews.  She and Paul traveled extensively throughout the United States.  Her passion was crocheting.  All her family and friends have a crocheted treasure to remember her by. Henry Paul Dugat

Henry “Peanut” Paul Dugat, 82, of Warren, died peacefully at home Monday, April 24, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on March 30, 1941, in Sour Lake, to Erna Mae Rhame Dugat and Clarence Paul Dugat. He was employed with the International Longshoremen’s Association of Clerks and Checkers Local 1665 during his Port of Galveston career. For thirty years, he worked full-time on the docks, and maintained a working cattle ranch and soybean farm in Hardin County. After retiring in 1989, he reapplied his full-time attention to farming and ranching. Henry was a volunteer and board member to numerous community organizations in the Sour Lake area. He provided work-study opportunities, along with valuable life lessons and skills, to many young people with interests in farming and ranching vocations. Ollie Adaway Murphy, 98, of Village Mills, died Sunday, April 9, 2023. She was born on December 31, 1924, in Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, to Alice Alphin Adaway and Sebastian Adaway. Ollie enjoyed water skiing in her youth. She found joy in her grandchildren and sporting events. She was an Astros fan, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting.
