Billy Wayne Kinard
On Sunday, June 28, 2020, Billy Wayne Kinard, loving husband, father, and grandfather died at the age of 70. He passed away peacefully in his garden outside his home in Brenham, Texas. He was born on August 21, 1949 to Ina Fay Derrington Kinard and William Curtis Kinard, in Liberty, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University transferring his senior year to The University of Texas Pharmacy School, graduating in 1974. He owned Kinard’s Pharmacy Store and later managed Eckerd’s and Market Basket Pharmacies in Beaumont. Billy and Gay are members of Westgate Memorial Baptist Church in Beaumont
Billy made it a life-long mission to value relationships and be good to people, and everyone loved being around him. Growing up he was the high-school quarterback, pitcher of his baseball team, and played guitar and sang in a band. His love of sports and music brought him joy and happiness throughout his life. His true devotion was his family, whom he loved and supported every day of his life. His granddaughters were his greatest joy. Anyone who knew Billy will remember him for this, and for being such a fun person.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Gay Haley Kinard, of Brenham; son, Dr. Robb Gobert and his wife, Lori An, of Columbus; daughters, Katie Gobert, of Beaumont and Kelly Kinard Farrow and her husband, Paul, of Katy; son, Jeff Kinard and his wife, Jessica, of Cary, North Carolina; grandchildren, Julie Ana Gobert, Paige Farrow, Audrey Kinard, and Claire Kinard; one niece; numerous nephews; and a host of friends and customers who loved him and appreciated the personal care that he gave.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathie Ward, of Fort Bend County; and brother, Bobby Kinard, of Beaumont.
A gathering of Mr. Kinard’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A private family interment will be held at a later date at the family farm in Brenham. The family invites you to join them for a celebration of life to be announced in the future.

The was thinking about one of my favorite Billy Wayne stories today. He would come to see me and go to the stove to see what my Momma had cooked. His favorite was red stew. I googled Billy and saw that we had lost him. I had no idea. He was a funny funny man. Many Aggie memories of him coming to UT to visit.
I knew Billy in Austin just as he was entering pharmacy school at UT. He was one of the happiest and most engaging people I have ever known — a true pleasure to be around. While I knew him only briefly, he made a special impression that has remained with me for more than 50 years. He was so excited as he prepared to begin his pharmacy career! A loving person who made a difference to those who were fortunate to have known him. Rest in peace, my friend, and may God bless your eternal soul…
