Ernest Ray Park

April 7, 1941 - November 23, 2020

Ernest Ray Park, 79, of Nederland, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus, Monday, November 23, 2020, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. He was born on April 7, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Agnes Deramus Park and Thurston Ernest Park.

After working as a machinist for many years, Ray retired from Cargill as supervisor of the rolling mill. He then began his next career as “Linda’s right arm,” a career he cherished.   RayRay also loved volunteering with several organizations. He was a very active and proud member of Sertoma, having served as its president and also as a member of its board of directors, and was a recipient of the Sertoman of the Year award. Ray also was a regular volunteer at the Hospitality Center.   When Ray wasn’t helping others, he enjoyed dancing with his wife, hunting, golf, and Facebooking.   Even though he never commented on Facebook, he was an avid “liker.”

Ray was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and usher.   He also found and experienced a great sense of fulfillment in his involvement with the ACTS community, which included his participation in the St. Kolbe Prison Ministry.

RayRay was a tremendously loved man with a large loving heart. Ray enjoyed life to the fullest and his joy was helping others; but, more than anything, his greatest treasure was his wife and daughter and his many “extra” daughters.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Park, of Nederland; daughter, Penny Morales Pabitzky, of Nederland; and brother, Jerry Park and his wife, Linda, of Poquoson, Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Darren Joseph Morales; and sisters, Linda Dixon and Jean Ousley.

A gathering of Mr. Park’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2020, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with his interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.

The family would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to all the friends and family who have prayed so hard for them, visited, called, and texted. You all are their strength.

LInda and Penny, Our hearts and prayers are with you at this difficult time . I know that Ray was a very Godly man and was a Christian. So we know as a Christian that being absent from this earth is to be in the presences of the Lord, It does bring some peace to know that Ray is with many of his loved ones .that went on before him.. Ray was a special person who loved his wife and daughter and family. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Ray knows he was a great husband , father and friend . We love you guys very much and we are here for anything you need. May the Lord give you unconditional strength and peace at this time. We are praying for you.

Ray, thank you for living a stellar life. and setting an example for generations to come of a real gentleman. Your life was one that was devoted to duty to our country, a man who work earnestly and diligently in his career, loved The Lord Jesus with all his heart and lived a life devoted to our girls, Linda and Penny. You were their rock. They will move forward gracefully, with the grace of our Lord and Savior, and help from their friends and by the example you set for them. We are not saying goodbye, we are saying until we meet again in the presence of Jesus. I know you are hearing “well done my good and faithful servant”.

Linda and Penny, My thoughts and prayers are with you. Ray and I spent many hours together at the mill. He was always glad to talk about family and was readily available to help when someone needed . The Lord tells us we will see him again.

I will remember Ray as a man and fellow Sertoma who served with purpose to help others. He was committed to doing good and a willing worker to improve our community. Though Ray was a proud Sertoma, we were proud that he was a Sertoma. My condolences to Linda, Penny and other family members. May the Lord comfort you and give His peace.

Ray was a great man who was always a father figure to me. Often taking time out of his day to do anything that I asked. He even went as far as bringing me to golf lessons at the Pea Patch every morning so that I could learn to play golf with him. I will forever remember all of our days at the lease, nights he would teach me canasta while watching his cards, and the random days he would come pull my friends go-kart out of the mud.
