Ernest Ray Park
Ernest Ray Park, 79, of Nederland, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus, Monday, November 23, 2020, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. He was born on April 7, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Agnes Deramus Park and Thurston Ernest Park.
After working as a machinist for many years, Ray retired from Cargill as supervisor of the rolling mill. He then began his next career as “Linda’s right arm,” a career he cherished. RayRay also loved volunteering with several organizations. He was a very active and proud member of Sertoma, having served as its president and also as a member of its board of directors, and was a recipient of the Sertoman of the Year award. Ray also was a regular volunteer at the Hospitality Center. When Ray wasn’t helping others, he enjoyed dancing with his wife, hunting, golf, and Facebooking. Even though he never commented on Facebook, he was an avid “liker.”
Ray was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and usher. He also found and experienced a great sense of fulfillment in his involvement with the ACTS community, which included his participation in the St. Kolbe Prison Ministry.
RayRay was a tremendously loved man with a large loving heart. Ray enjoyed life to the fullest and his joy was helping others; but, more than anything, his greatest treasure was his wife and daughter and his many “extra” daughters.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Park, of Nederland; daughter, Penny Morales Pabitzky, of Nederland; and brother, Jerry Park and his wife, Linda, of Poquoson, Virginia.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Darren Joseph Morales; and sisters, Linda Dixon and Jean Ousley.
A gathering of Mr. Park’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 27, 2020, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 28, 2020, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with his interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
The family would like to send a special heartfelt thank you to all the friends and family who have prayed so hard for them, visited, called, and texted. You all are their strength.

Ray was a great man who was always a father figure to me. Often taking time out of his day to do anything that I asked. He even went as far as bringing me to golf lessons at the Pea Patch every morning so that I could learn to play golf with him. I will forever remember all of our days at the lease, nights he would teach me canasta while watching his cards, and the random days he would come pull my friends go-kart out of the mud.
