Melvin Breaux

July 17, 1931 - September 14, 2019

Melvin Joseph “L.J.” Breaux, 88, of Port Acres, died Saturday, September 14, 2019. He was born on July 17, 1931, to Elda Stute Breaux and Donna Dieu Breaux, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Melvin served in the United States Army and later became a technician at Southwestern Bell. He was a member of Texas Cajun Association, Pioneer Club, and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Phillips and her husband, Gary, of Port Acres; sons, Dennis Breaux and his wife, Dolly; Richard Breaux and his wife, Lori, both of Port Acres; and Wendell Breaux and his wife, Melissa, of Fannett; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elsie Lou Domingue.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Odette Rita Breaux; four brothers; and four sisters.

A gathering of Mr. Breaux’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2019, at Broussard’s 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Broussard’s, Nederland, with his interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street M, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers and Southeast Texas Hospice.
