Michael Smith

Dr. Michael Dwain Smith, 58, of Lumberton, died Friday, July 12, 2019. He was born on October 28, 1960, in Warrensburg, Missouri, to Anita Josephine and Roger Dwain Smith.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-three years, Teresa Smith; children, Nikki Borque and Shaun Smith and his wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Teagan Lawson, Mallory Borque, and Sage Smith, all of Lumberton; parents, Anita and Roger Smith; brother, Pat Smith and his wife, Virginia, all of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister, Wendy Earls and her husband, Kevin, of Hillsboro, Missouri; nephew, Joshua; and nieces, Kathrine, Rebecca, and Alexandra.

A gathering of Mr. Smith’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

    My sincere condolences to the family in this time of loss. I have fond memories of interacting with Mike and playing alongside of him during our college days. He was so smart and talented and quick to crack a joke. I was thankful to get back in touch with him later in life via email and social media. I am a better person for having known him.
