Philip Burton, Jr.

July 9, 1926 - January 13, 2018

Philip S. Burton, Jr., age 91, of Nederland, Texas entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont.

Philip was born in Houston to Elsie and Philip Burton, Sr., and raised in Woodville. He proudly served our country well as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy during World War II. Philip was a loving husband and father, and provided for his family as an operator at Texaco Refinery for over thirty years. His passion for the outdoors was exemplified through gardening, fishing, and hunting.

Those left to cherish his Christian legacy are his sons, Greg Burton and his wife, Tammy, of Buna; Thomas Burton and his wife, JoAnn, of Nederland; and Gene Burton and his wife, Patti, of Orangefield; daughter, Gwen Boyd and her husband, Butch, of Dripping Springs. He was loved by eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Phyllis, Kevin, Mandi, Kristi, Kandice, Lindsey, and Kaci; six great-grandchildren, Tanner, Kennon, Malana, Kelsey, Mason, and Ethan; and step-brother, Phillip Boyd.

The love of his life, Stephina Hryhorchuk Burton, preceded him in death after fifty-nine years of marriage.

A gathering of Mr. Burton’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Broussard’s, officiated by Steve Ford. His interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
