Ralph Likins, Sr.

January 29, 1939 - June 12, 2018

Ralph Edward Likins, Sr., 79, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018. He was born on January 29, 1939, to Agnes Rita McCue Likins and Floyd Leo Likins, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Ralph loved being a student where he received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He was a member of the United States Army for twenty-two years retiring as a Major where he served as Chief of Staff of Personnel during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and three Army Commendation Medals. Ralph was a Certified Public Accountant for thirty-six years.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Ruby Likins; son, Ralph Likins, Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Houston; daughters, Sheree Likins Bennett of Port Arthur and Amy Likins Beal and her husband, David, of Silsbee; brother, Steve Likins and his wife, Mollye, of Biloxi, Mississippi; sisters, Rita Likins Brady of Gulfport, Mississippi and Joann Likins of Biloxi, Mississippi; grandchildren, Kayla Martinez and her husband, Pedro; Drake Bennett and his wife, Leanna; Brady Byars and his wife, Ellen; Cayson Beal, and Alex Edward Beal; great-grandchildren, Darryl Martinez, Valerie Martinez, Annalise Bennett, Madeline Byars, and Meredith Byars; special daughter-in-law, Lisa Peschel; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Louise Hackler; and brother, Floyd Likins, Jr.

A gathering of Mr. Likins’ family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A burial of his cremated body will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2018, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4 Bayou Brandt Drive, Suite B, Beaumont, Texas 77706; or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.

Mr. Ralph, thank you for your friendship, advice, and good humor, over these last 30 plus years, you will be missed. Ms. Ruby, thank you for sharing Mr. Ralph with the hundreds of folks that knew him, I can truly say the world was a better place because of him, in his own way, he made a mark and a difference in mine, I am so sorry I will never finish all our continuing conversations, and the whit wisdom and humor that came from them. My heart goes out to all the family at this time and hope that the Good Lord will comfort all. RIP Mr. Ralph, Thank you Jesus for allowing me to know him.
