Suzanne and Johnny lived in various places in the world including, Germany, Japan, and the United States during this military service in the army. They had two sons, Winston Christian Hicks and John Paul Hicks. After serving twenty-two years in the army, Johnny retired and found a new job with the Honeywell Corporation. The family moved to Massachusetts and eventually settled in Beaumont, Texas, in 1969.

Survivors include her son, John Paul Hicks of Beaumont; niece, Joelle Simas Doguet and her husband, Darrell, of Church Point, Louisiana; great-niece, Kristina Siracusa and her husband, Steven, of Rayne, Louisiana; great-nephews, Nicholas Doguet of Lafayette, Louisiana and Adrien Massoni, of Leesville, Louisiana; great-niece, Sonya Massoni of Leesville, Louisiana; and great-great-niece, Juliette Siracusa.

I am honored to have called Susanne Johnson a friend. My mom and Suzanne shared a love of French antiques and I was lucky enough to tag along. Susanne and I shared the same February 12th birthday and remained in touch through the years. She was an amazing woman, kind, funny and always looked on the bright side of life no matter how difficult the situation. Thank you Suzanne for being such a special lady and friend. Please accept my deepest condolences John Paul.

I’ll always remember Suzanne as a very proud classy French Lady who loved to sing and tell her stories! She loved my dogs and was an awesome neighbor and my friend. Her beautiful smile will always have a warm spot in my heart. I will miss your spirit, Suzanne. XO Roxy

I am heartbroken to learn of her passing. She was such a vital person -- a lover of beauty and Life. Through our long friendship I learned many things from her: how to celebrate life and treasure those you love; about style and making a beautiful home your sanctuary, and about squeezing every drop out of TODAY. She was like no one else! Rest with the angels, my Cherie. Love. Margaret
