W. L Pate Jr.,

Judy, AnnDee, Stacy and family, Am Officer and a Gentleman describes Col. Ralph Night precisely. Our family has shared so many priceless and precious memories that are too numerous to mention. However, of all of these, I will never forget Colonel Night, (then Major Night) inviting me to be his guest at the Officers Club at Fort Hood, Texas 52 years ago this month. Private E-1 W. L. Pate, Jr was having dinner with a Field Grade Officer. He gave me a copy of The Officers Guide and told me that he was giving this book to me because he KNEW that I would become an officer. Two years later, I was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, GA August 19, 1969. 25 years later I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1994. Colonel Night played a major role in my military career as well as many other times as a civilian. There a many stories too numerous to tell, but without a doubt, Colonel Ralph Night was instrumental in assisting me as well as many others in their development as good citizens and proud Americans. Colonel Ralph night reflected great credit upon his profession, his faith, his community , his country, his family and himself. He was a great American. An Officer and a Gentleman! God bless you all. We love you. W. L. Pate, Jr. LTC USAR (Ret)

Judy and Geri. I am so sorry to hear about Ralph. I won’t be able to be there due to my own limitations. I remember the many visits to the store talking with Ralph, Harvey and Aunt Sarah. Judy, you were all so wonderful to Dolores when she was there. While we were all scattered we never forgot who we were, where we came from, and our love for each other. I will be saying Kaddish for him. Much love, Leonard
