Dorothy Sherman

Dorothy Jane Sherman, 87, of Beaumont, died Monday, May 21, 2018. She was born on March 17, 1931, to Mary Lou Maske and H.W. Harkins, in Port Arthur. Dorothy was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Republican Woman of Beaumont, and a longtime member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. In her younger adult years, she enjoyed taking vacations with her husband to the mountains and also enjoyed taking art lessons and painting.

Survivors include her son, Gary Sherman and his wife, Ellen, of Eugene, Oregon; daughter, Janie Sherman Alley and her husband, Robert, of Huffman; brothers, Thomas Sandidge and his wife, Beth, of Allen and Louis Sandidge and his wife, Carmelene, of Navasota; grandchildren, Christopher Sherman; Shelli Flynn and her husband, Dillon; Jillian Bailey and her husband, Dustin; Tyler Alley; and Austin Alley; and three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Mary Lou Sandidge and her husband, T.A. Sandidge; husband, C.L. “Sonny” Sherman; and son, Richard Sherman.

A gathering of Mrs. Sherman’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont, with a gathering to follow in the Parlor. A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, Beaumont.
