Dorthy Shannon

January 17, 1929 - February 18, 2018

Dorthy Evalyn Shannon, 89, of Beaumont, died Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on January 17, 1929, in San Augustine, to Alice Anthony Walker and William Walker.

Dorthy is survived by her husband, Danny Shannon; sons, Ted Beard and his wife, Debbie, of Bridge City; Steve Beard and his wife, Libby, of Evadale; Clint Beard and his wife, Holley, of Lumberton; and Eddie Johnson, of Woodville; daughters, Candice Gross and her husband, John, of Shawnee, Kansas; Arneltie Smith and her husband, Richard; of Beaumont; Angelina Rone, of Beaumont; and Tina Jordan, of Nederland; twenty-five grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Johnson.

A gathering of Mrs. Shannon’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
