Earline Phelps

August 9, 1948 - August 5, 2019

Earline Potier Phelps, 70, of Beaumont, died Monday, August 5, 2019, at Christus Hospital – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on August 9, 1948, in Gueydan, Louisiana, to Alpay Marie Istre Potier and Wallace Potier. Earline, known by her family as “Grannie” or “Grannie Grannie” was a very simple woman.

Earline had three passions in life, reading, spending time with her kids and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When it came to reading, she was at the local library every week checking the newest books on the shelf, especially her favorite author, James Patterson. Not only did she check books out, she had her own “library” at home with hundreds of books in her collection. Anytime we were together, everyone wanted “Grannie’s” homemade fudge. She would even make two separate batches to accommodate the grandkids with peanut allergies.

Survivors include her daughter, Adrian Marie Day and her husband, James, of New Mexico; sons, Errol Viator and his wife, Robbie, of Maypearl and Eric Viator and his wife, Missy, of Fannett; grandchildren, Jessica Simon, Ryan Domingue, Harley Day, Kirsten Viator, Easton Viator, Kyle Fortenberry, Ethan Viator, and Evan Viator; great-grandchildren, Kenley Seal, Kayten ‘KK’ Satler, Korben Domingue; and many nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chad Hammett and the medical staff at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital for the comfort and care they gave her.

A gathering of Ms. Phelps’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Her committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.

Memorial contributions may be made to Juanita Hargraves Memorial Library, P.O. Box 579, Winnie, Texas 77665.
