Elmer Douglas "Sonnyman" Marcontell

Elmer Douglas “Sonnyman” Marcontell, 95, of Thicket, died Sunday, May 24, 2020.  He was born on September 10, 1924, in Saratoga, to Dovie Fuller Marcontell and John Walter Marcontell.  Mr. Marcontell proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was in the 10th Mountain Division. Elmer was also a Master Mason of Wharton Masonic Lodge #621, A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include his children, Floyd Marcontell and his wife, Bonnie, of Thicket and Sissie Breaux and her husband, Larry, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Carl Metcalf, Chris Breaux, Christie Vandiver, Amy Enloe, David Breaux, Scooter Marcontell, and Dovie Ratcliff; great-grandchildren, Tyler Enloe, Montana Berry, Seth Breaux, Branson Nolan, Dylan Breaux, Mason Ratcliff, Ava Breaux, Gavin Ratcliff, Malia Marcontell, Keyra Metcalf, and Spencer Marcontell; and sister, Juanita Donahoe of Pearland.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline Marcontell; son, Walter Marcontell; and brother, Reginald Marcontell.

A gathering of Mr. Marcontell’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  His interment will follow at Felps Cemetery, Thicket.  Please observe social distancing guidelines.
