Elodia "Marie" Faul

March 9, 1935 - April 19, 2020

Elodia “Marie” Faul, 85, of Beaumont, died Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on March 9, 1935, in Abbeville, Louisiana, to Olite and Arte Menard.

Marie is survived by her sons, Stephen Faul and his wife, Darla, of Port Arthur; Dave Faul and his wife, Bonnie, of Beaumont; and Ricky Faul and his wife, Christi, of China; sister, Barbara Lopez, of Arlington, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Faul; sisters Lillian Faul, Olita Bertrand and Audrey Duhon; and brothers, Raymond Menard and Eli Menard.

Many knew her as Marie, but she answered to many names. Mom, Nanny, Grandma, GG, Sneaky, Taunt Blondie, and Ms. Faul. Lester called her “Grace” before he passed which was short for “Amazing Grace”. She loved her three boys. Steve, Dave and Rick. They were her WORLD. She was So proud of each one of them. She would cherish moments when all three sons were together talking and laughing together. Nothing made her happier.  Marie worked hard all of her adult life. As most times, the primary family income while Lester was down with back surgeries. From cashier to administrative assistant to receptionist, she was always a super employee, wherever she worked. Very competitive and loved playing Skip- Bo with her Sister Lillian and anyone else who dared! All of those that knew her would have most the same core things to say about her. “She is sweet, gentle, and kind”.

May she now be joined with all of her family in Heaven.

A family graveside service for Mrs. Faul will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 1629, Beaumont, Texas 77704.

Dave and Bonnie - We were saddened by the news of Marie's passing. We will always remember her and how she always greeted us with a smile and brightened our day. We loved the stories she told us about when you were a kid. We send our sincere condolences and we will keep you and Bonnie in our thoughts and prayers.

Darla and Steve Faul

Marie Faul was such a fine, gentle woman. She loved her family, and would do anything for them. She was humble and grateful for everything. She kept a meticulous house, was an excellent cook (best gumbo ever), and loved playing Skipbo. Her favorite thing to eat in the world was fried shrimp, but ribs ran a close second. In her 'retired' years, eating out became a hobby almost. We ate at every restaurant in Beaumont and Port Arthur, at least once and many numerous times. Her famous 'I'm stuffed!' changed quickly when dessert would come. She loved classic country music, and dinners with live music. She had her hair 'done' once a week faithfully, never wanting miss it, no matter how she felt! She had a sweet tooth and probably tried every King Cake invented and loved Fruitcake from Collin Street Bakery. Every Saturday night she splurged with a bowl of BlueBell. She wrote notes constantly, so she wouldn't forget anything. She cherished all her trips with her sisters and words with friends with Barbara went on for years. She loved company and big family dinners. At Christmas, she still loved shaking, and opening presents and all the Hallmark Christmas shows. After she started watching football, Sundays meant her 'lucky' Cowboys shirt, dinner, and then hollering at Dak Prescott. Her sister Lillian was her partner in crime and they served the church together, garage saled, and shared family times. Wesley (Lillians son), always continued traditions and spent almost every Sunday lunch with her. It meant so much to her. So many things to be said for such a virtuous woman. She was a Proverbs 31 woman. She has no pain or sorrow anymore and I am sure it was a wonderful family reunion in Heaven. Everyone loved her, that knew her and she will always have a very special place in our hearts. We thank God for all the years He gave us with her.

Steve, David and Ricky, very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I have fond memories of your parents when we lived in the small neighborhood off of College Street back in the late ‘60’s and early ‘70’s. David must have been 3 and Ricky was 1 or so and I can remember hanging with Steve and having to be quiet when they were sleeping and how awesome the food smelled when your mom was cooking. Your Dad drilling a hole thru a hardball, tying it to a rope and swinging it in a circle so we could take batting practice. Funny the things you remember from your childhood. 50 year ago. Gifts I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. Steve, May God be with your family‘s as you celebrate her life together. Tony
