George Honsberger

December 1, 1937 - July 11, 2018

George David Honsberger, 80, of Beaumont, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, July 11, 2018, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on December 1, 1937, to Emma B. Hall Honsberger and Franklin Eugene Honsberger, in Beaumont.

George was a man who loved life and cherished his friends and family. For many years, he was the go to guy in the Golden Triangle area for personalized care in finer men’s clothing. George himself was always a sharp dressed man. He established a loyal following of customers, who would drive to Beaumont from all over the Southeast Texas, area just to have George help them to look their very best! He loved his customers and they loved him.

His passion for golf was contagious. He had his first hole in one in May 1995, and his second was in July 2010. His talent, sense of humor, and funny comments, made a day on the course with George a very special event!

In 1980, he married the love of his life, Yvonne. A blended family was made, and he took it upon himself to always make sure every child was included and loved. He was a very generous and kind man. He taught his children, grandchildren, and anyone that knew him and loved him, many life lessons, jokes, and advice that will always have a special place in their hearts. George never met a stranger, and made anyone he met feel comfortable and welcomed. When you would see him, he would always have a smile on his face, even when going through the toughest of times. One of George’s constant reminders to his children and anyone he met was to “Be ye Kind.”

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Honsberger; sons, Von Honsberger and his wife, Stephanie, of Missouri City and David Guillory and his wife, Tonya, of Alpharetta, Georgia; daughters, Kristen Broussard and her husband, Eric; Kathryn Messina and her husband, Brent; and Debby Moon and her husband, Joey, all of Beaumont; brother, Dutch Honsberger and his wife, Pat, of San Antonio; grandchildren, Eric Honsberger of San Antonio; Evan Honsberger and his wife, Jamie, of Richmond; Allison Wagstaff and her husband, Kyle, of Winnie; Zachary Moon; Zoey Moon; and Elyse Broussard, all of Beaumont; and Lily Guillory of Alpharetta, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Ruby Honsberger of Richmond; many nieces and nephews, and beloved granddog, Lola.

A gathering of Mr. Honsberger’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Chapel of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. George, My old friend from back in the mid 60''s, i worked with you at DuCotes Towne Shoppe. You were a class guy. I always had a special request when you went to market, like a powder blue tux shirt, you always came through, a master clothier, i learned much from you and Mr. DuCote. I had a great time being around such talent! My condolences to the family. God Bless. RIP. Jerry
