Howard Juckett

August 8, 1948 - October 30, 2018

Howard Clarence Juckett of Beaumont, Texas, was born Aug. 8, 1948, in Dover, New Jersey, and crossed the finish line of a good life on Oct. 30, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Howard grew up with four unique brothers in the farm country of Succasunna, New Jersey.  At a very early age, his brother, Ed, put him on a motorcycle and off road enduros and desert racing became a lifelong passion. He has a long resume of state, national and international level off road motorcycling, including five Baja 500 finishes, a 4thplace, class 40 Baja 1000 finish and a 9thplace Ironman Nevada 1000 finish. He was a multiple ISDE Qualifier as well. Enduros were a perfect fit as endurance was one of Howard’s many qualities. He loved to ride.

Howard graduated from Roxbury High School, Succasunna, New Jersey, in 1967. He attended Seton Hall University and Lamar University. He enlisted in the Army during the final years of the Vietnam War and was diagnosed with cancer while in service. His treatment at Walter Reed Army Hospital saved his life but led to decades of other health challenges.

He fought through them all, including open heart surgery, heart valve replacement, a heart transplant on Christmas Eve of 2007 – bless you Chelsea – and multiple cancer diagnoses and surgeries. Howard never gave in to his pains and health problems. Every recovery was amazing but didn’t surprise anyone who knew him. A successful kidney transplant was performed on Oct. 1, 2018. Unfortunately, complications occurred that he was unable to overcome.

Howard made friends everywhere he went and maintained friendships from grade school until yesterday. He loved his work and friends at Mercedes Benz, both old and new, and at Cowboy Honda.

He loved his family, his friends and his dachshunds. He especially enjoyed mentoring his nephew, Caelan Wellsmoor Evans of Redmond, Washington, in his dirt bike endeavors.

Howard is survived by by his wife of 38 years, Christine Sanders Juckett of Beaumont; mother-in-law Christine Moor Sanders of Woodville, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Katherine and Steve Evans of Wimberley, Texas; brother Charles Juckett and sister-in-law Bette Juckett of SandystonTownship, New Jersey; sister-in-law Christine Vega Juckett of Marshalls Creek, Pennsylvania; beloved cousin Mary Tharpe who mightily supported Howard while he was at Walter Reed in the early 1970s and her daughter Robin Warren, who was the first to selflessly offer her kidney; several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded by his parents, Howard D. and Louise Mercer Juckett, and brothers Edward, John and Larry Juckett.

We give special thanks to the physicians and caregivers we have encountered during these many years, especially Dr. Alfred Brady, Dr. Reynolds Delgado III, the late Dr. Rod Anderson, Dr. Jeremy Huff, Doug McMakin and staff, the extraordinary ICU nurses and physicians at St. Luke’s Hospital 6 Cooley A, expressly Samee.  And, our Jason’s Deli family.

We love him and will miss him forever.

Mr. Juckett’s committal service will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont. There will be a reception to follow at Katherine & Company, 1498 Calder Avenue, in The Mildred Building, Beaumont.

His committal was handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society-Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 1629, Beaumont, Texas, 77704.

Chris, I am so saddened to hear of Howie's passing. I am certain George met him and they are both sitting at the table of our Lord; as they now look down on us. Eternal rest grant onto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mike.

Wish we had golfed before 2017 ⛳? but really enjoyed that day. From childhood neighbors, high school, then 50 years later at our reunion, you left your mark on everyone's mind and in their hearts. To his family, sincere condolences. ❤?

I almost never saw Howard have a down moment in the 20 years we worked together.. A prince of a gentleman. I so very much wished we had been able to get back to Texas in recent years for a visit. Our sincere condolences to Chris.

To the Family: My deepest condolences. Death of a loved one is never an easy thing to go through. Just remember you are not alone. Isaiah 61: 2 "...To comfort all who mourn" God is right here to help you. Look forward with confidence to the fulfillment of the promises found at John 6:40 and Acts 24:15, “ ... there is going to be a resurrection...” For more comfort please visit our website: jw.org and view the faith strengthening video: Is There Hope for the Dead? ?

Second try. first one disappeared.........Steve and I enjoyed Howards friendship and love of motorcycles for MANY YEARS. He was a true friend with no pretenses. His NEVER GIVE UP attitude was a cornerstone of his life, both in racing and his NUMEROUS health issues. We never knew Christine, but she gave all she could to the LOVE of her life: Howard. She loved him so much,,,,,,she allowed him to continue to pursue his love of motorcycles/racing even after his health issues were a major issue.. Howard will be truly missed.

I never met Howard, but wish I had. I heard wonderful things about him from Katherine Evans, Christine's sister in Wimberley, TX.. My most sincere condolences to Christine and the entire family.

Great guy! Always fun to be around! His face in the motorcycle helmet like just like I remember at the dormitory At Lamar. Howard and his black Porche and friends at Lamar. What great memories I have as I think back of Howard, Todd Scales, Robert Wooster, Jack Denison, And his girl friend whom. I believe is the girl he married! Reminded me a bit of Sonny Bono from Sunny and Cher! Was battling cancer back then but you would never know It! Was just thinking of him so I decided to try and locate Him online! Would loved to have seen him again. Perhaps In the soon coming Kingdom of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! See you there my friend and Chris! Praise the Lord! There is no sting of death for those who believe!
