James “Jimmy” Jones

October 16, 1942 - January 25, 2019

James “Jimmy” Jones, 76, of Beaumont, died Friday, January 25, 2019. He was born on October 16, 1942, in Beaumont, to Lillian Olivia Patterson Jones and Charles William Jones, Sr.

Jimmy was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was also a decorated United States Army Veteran. Most of all, Jimmy was a child of God, who truly loved his Lord.

When reflecting on Jimmy’s life, he was a man of virtue and honor at all times. He was not a man of materialistic values. His desire was to always live by the law of God and to teach his children to do the same.

Jimmy retired from P.D. Glycol as a maintenance supervisor and had been a funeral associate for Broussard’s Mortuary for the last ten years.

After retirement, Jimmy spent his new-found freedom being an avid reader, becoming a cowboy and tending to his cattle, feeding his squirrels peanuts, listening to Rush Limbaugh, chasing his grandkids, looking after his sisters, and continuing to raise his grown children. He also chose to spend time being sure his fellow man was given tender loving care before they were laid to rest. Although Jimmy did many great things while he was here with us, loving and sharing his life with Nancy was where he found his greatest joy. I am sure the Lord will say “Well done thou good and faithful servant…..Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:21.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Holland Jones; son, John Holland Jones and his wife, Susan; daughters, Robyn Jones Ming and her husband, Keith, and Allyson Jones Treme and her husband, Tod; grandchildren, Callie Madison Jones, Cassidy Holland Jones, Charles Kody Ming, William Kyle Ming, Trevor Ross Treme, Christopher Holland Treme, and Tanner Nolan Treme; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Nicolette Ming; and sisters, Kathryn Jones Messina, Tessa Jones Schiesler, Alice Jones Broussard, and Sharron Jones Phythian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles W. Jones, Jr., John Patterson Jones, Earnest Alfred Jones; sister, Edna Mae Jones; and in-laws, Irene and Homer Holland.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Jones may be made to St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

A gathering of Mr. Jones’ family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2019, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

My wife and I had the pleasure of living next to Mr. Jones for 7 years and he was the absolute best neighbor anyone could ask for. He would mow our yard and bring on our trash can while we were at work. During Hurricane Rita he watched over our place while we were still evacuated. We loved to visit with him ave his precious wife. RIP Mr. Jones, you will be greatly missed. Siincereky, Chuck and Tricia DeBarge

Mr. Jimmy was friendly and kind. He always had my father's best interest at heart and my mother's as well. He and Miss Nancy would come visit bringing gifts of burial missals and potato soup. Both of which my parents were very happy to receive. When my father was way from Mass due to breaking his back and surgery recovery, Mr. Jimmy went out of his way to stop by and check in on my Dad. We send sincerest condolences to the family. Your husband, father, uncle, brother and grandfather was a very good man. May he rest in the peace of Christ.

Nancy I am truly saddened at ya'll loss. Jimmy and you were there for me when my dad died many years ago when I just just a kid. Jimmy helped me through one of the worst times in my life. He was there for me and looked out for me. Years went by and while my mom was alive, he would always ask me how " Mrs Durst" was. I was always glad when we ran into each other and loved that smile and one of a kind voice. He will be greatly missed. I'm sure my dad is there to greet him and shake his hand and tell him " thank you"..You and your family are in my prayers.

Nancy our family is devastated at the loss of one who was the most loyal and caring friend our family was so blessed to have in our lives.. Jimmy watched over our Daddy in his final days; faithfully checked on our Mother in the following years and, most recently, kept a constant vigil over our brother during his many hospital stays and tried his best to comfort Sandy when his health prevented his being able to be at home. All our ‘thank yous’ to Jimmy never could really express our gratitude for all the love he showed our family over the years. Know too that we are so grateful to you for sharing him with our family. We pray the gravity of your loss can be eased by the certain knowledge that Jimmy is now with his Lord and Savior. May all our tears be dried at the thought of the wonderful reunion a Mother and Father had seeing their son once again and knowing one day we will see Jimmy again ourselves. God bless you all.

My most heartfelt condolences to Nancy and all of the family. Jimmy was one of the finest men I have ever known. He kept a true Cajun custom by staying with my brother L.A. and my mother Bea after they passed away until the day of the funeral

What an incredible human being just loosed the bonds of earth! He was a good and honest friend of Pat during their childhood and throughout life. He stood in our wedding, visited Pat in the Hospital during his terrible illness and held his hand in ICU to tell him of his mother’s passing when I could not. He loved his church, Nancy, his wife and love of his life, his children, grandchildren and anyone who met him knew they’d met someone special❤️ Heaven is rejoicing and we are all so sorry. I pray especially now for Nancy, Johnny, Robyn and Alyson. God comfort you and surround you with love

Nancy, You and Jimmy have been very good neighbors to us during our two and one half years in Beaumont. We will definitely miss Jimmy and his kind words and encouragement. We are praying for you and your family and pray that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will Bless and Keep You during this difficult time. Jimmy will be missed but God has another angel in Heaven.

Tommy & Christy King, Kaitlyn and Emily

Mrs. Nancy and family- y'all are in our prayers. Mr. Jimmy was such a blessing to our family. We always loved to see him over at the elder King house and would all go over to visit. The best story was when he drove the hearse right up to the door-boy the neighbors talked!, My girls remember when he bought the whole box of brownies from them (for way more than they were worth) to take back to the fellas at the funeral home. He was indeed a kind man and truly showed God's love. He will be greatly missed but in Christ we have an eternal hope and we will see him again one day. (Philippians 1:21)

Pete and Jan (Jackson) Mckinney

Uncle Jimmy has always been one of my favorite uncles but he has also been one of my favorite people. He was always there for anyone in the family and he served others without having to be asked. Uncle Jimmy loved his family and loved others unconditionally. He served others without having to be asked. He will truly be missed. He would always use say “Go with God”. And now we can say to Uncle Jimmy “Go be with God and your brothers”. Don’t think for one minute MawMaw Jones isn't dancing In Heaven because she has all of her boys with her, I pray for comfort and peace for all of us who loved him .

Mrs. Jones, I haven't met you, but I worked with Mr, Jones for one year. I can truly say he had such a big heart for helping our families here at Broussard's. He was always up for helping a family in need and making sure he did everything he could at their service. He once told me that it takes a special kind of person to work at Broussard's and that it is a ministry to help families going through this hard time. He gave me a tie once because I told him it looked good one him, these memories will stick with all of us forever. Prayers for you and your family Mrs. Jones.

Ronald Antoine

Thank you for sharing Mr. Jones with us. Antoine Family

Dear Nancy V. Jack and I are sadden by the loss of your spouse. We did not get to meet Jimmy but know he was a wonderful husband, father and friend to so many. We have very fond memories of you as a young girl with the beautiful face and blonde hair. We knew your family growing up in Silsbee and going to Silsbee Schools with them. Your Mom (Irene) was my fourth grade teacher and taught me arithmetic and I loved her. Jack and I thought a great deal of all of them. I am sorry our paths did not cross often but we wanted you and your family to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Memories are precious and will be a comfort for you. God bless you and your family.
