Joe Allen, Sr.

September 12, 1948 - March 6, 2019

Joe David Allen, Sr., 70, of Kountze, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on September 12, 1948, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Stacy Grace Cook and Curtis Lafayette Allen. Joe was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era.

Survivors include his children, Lori Palmer and her husband, Mike, of Beaumont; Joe Allen, Jr., and his wife, Sherri, of Kountze; and Randy Allen and his wife, Jaime, of Silsbee; grandchildren, Katlin Allen, John Allen, Sara Allen, Zachary Allen, Billy Allen, and Luke Allen; great-grandson, Samuel Allen; sisters, Louise Dillard and Sue May; brother, Curtis Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Iris Sue King; sister, Rosemary Hardesty; brother, Paul Allen; and grandson, Christopher Allen.

A gathering of Mr. Allen’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. His interment will follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.

Uncle Joe was so much fun. One time we were all together at Lake Livingston and at night the fishermen had lights on their boats. Uncle Joe told me the lights were alligator eyes. I couldn't sleep for days. I still tell that story whenever I see boat lights at night.
