John Darby

January 6, 1942 - November 1, 2020

John Louis “Pops” Darby, 78, of Kountze, died, Sunday, November 1, 2020. He was born on January 6, 1942, in Beaumont, to Mary Concetta Brocato Darby and Charles Louis Darby.

Pops loved the outdoors, cooking for large gatherings, and watching his kids and grandkids activities. He was never seen without his plug of tobacco or his jump suit. One thing was for sure, the love he had for his wife, RED, was always evident.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Red” Darby, of Kountze; children, John Charles Darby and his wife, Dusti, of Buna; Bryan Clint Darby and his wife, Carrie Ann, of Kountze; Michael Craig Darby, of Orange; grandchildren, Tyler Darby, Caleb Darby, Cody Darby, Tori Darby, Lena Darby, Coy Darby, and Clay Darby; and great-granddaughter, Brylee Grace Darby.

John is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Leroy Darby and Barbara Jacobs.

A rosary recited for Mr. Darby’s family and friends will begin 5:00 p.m., with his gathering to follow until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at Broussard’s.

I met John on a DuPont job in early 70's, My dad sure thought a lot of John, they were in a political campaign running against one another if I remember correctly. John was a funny guy to be around.
