John Read

John D. Read, 94, of Nederland, died Sunday, February 11, 2018. He was born in Warren, to Inez and William Neal Read. John was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II in Europe, and was a retired operator at Neches Butane with 40 years of service.

Survivors include his son, Ronnie Read and his wife, Sherry, of Nederland; daughter, Karen Henry and her husband, Baxter, of Silsbee; and son-in-law, Robert Arnold of Port Neches; brothers, Ivison Read and Billy Dale Read of Warren; sisters, Faye McAlpin of Warren and Florine Wacasey of Friendswood; five grandchildren, Misty Cohrt, Mandy Brown, Angela Lopez, Daniel Read, and Caleb Henry; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Read; and daughter, Rhonda Arnold.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Mr. Read may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas.

A gathering of Mr. Read’s family and friends will begin at 8:30 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

      wish we would have known of JD's passing, Our family has had a ton of respect for J.D. over the years and he was a very positive influence on my whole family
