Lawrence “L.J.” Breaux

Lawrence Joseph “L.J.” Breaux, 85, of LaBelle, died Wednesday, September 18, 2019. He was born October 22, 1933, in Crowley, Louisiana, to Louise Molbert Breaux and Fidney Breaux.

As a young man, “L.J.” worked the docks and on seagoing tugs on the Mississippi River. He later retired after working on the Texaco Haviland Tug out of Port Arthur. He and wife, Nell, spent many days traveling in their motorhome to various areas. “L.J.” enjoyed working on his big red tractor, riding his golf cart around the neighborhood, visiting longtime friends, and playing with his grandchildren. He will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Nell Breaux; daughter, Rochelle Wimberly and her husband, Bobby; son, Barry Breaux and his wife, Chery; grandchildren, Ryan Ellis and his husband, Kevin; Mindi Burrell and her husband, Eric; Brian Breaux and his wife, Amy; and Brad Breaux and his wife, Jenna; sister, Mary Belle Scholl; nieces and nephews, Denise Lewis; David Scholl; Shana LaBouve; Jay LaBouve; and Jodi LaBouve; and great-grandchildren, John Burrell; Carter, Reed, Deacon, and Brayden Breaux; and Alyssa Hemker.

“L.J.” is preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Fidney Breaux; and brother, Carroll LaBouve.

A gathering of Mr. Breaux’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2019, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
