Mary Alice Hooks

Mary Alice Hooks, 84, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 22, 2019, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Beaumont. She was born on August 12, 1935, to Frances Lee Johnson Porter and Jewel Elgin Porter, in Nacogdoches. Mary thoroughly enjoyed fishing, gardening, and crocheting.

Survivors include her sons, David Wayne Hooks and his wife, Mary, of Woodville and James “Jimmy” Elgin Hooks and his wife, Betsy, of Labelle; daughter, Gay Nell Ensign and her husband, Mark, of Hamshire; sister, Helen Hanley of Fannett; brothers, Leon Porter and his wife, Imagene, of Fannett and George Max Porter and his wife, Judy, of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joe W. Hooks.

A gathering of Mrs. Hooks’ family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her interment will follow at Hooks Cemetery, Kountze.
