Michael Samuel Destefano

March 29, 1922 - February 21, 2018

Michael Samuel DeStefano, 95, of Edgewater, Florida, and formerly of Beaumont, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018. He was born on March 29, 1922, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Mary Mastriani DeStefano and Angelo DeStefano, and was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II.

Michael is survived by his sons, Michael DeStefano; and David DeStefano and his wife, Renee; all of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and grandsons, Steven DeStefano, of San Diego, California; and Jason DeStefano, of Portland, Oregon.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Pietrantuono DeStefano; brothers, Salvatore DeStefano, John “Jack” DeStefano, and Monsignor Richard DeStefano; and sister, Katherine DeStefano Montory.

A gathering of Mr. DeStefano’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018, at Broussard’s Chapel, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery.

I remember how your dad would kiss your mom hello before doing anything else, whenever he walked in the door - always. I never saw love like that before. Thank you David & Michael, for sharing your incredibly kind and loving parents with me. They were the very best people I've ever known. How lucky I am to have had them in my life.
