Rosa Perello

July 28, 1929 - February 17, 2018

Rosa Lee Perello, 88, of Beaumont, loving sister, aunt, and friend has left our precious sight on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.

A native of Beaumont, Rosa was born on July 28, 1929, to Catherine and Anthony Perello. Rosa graduated from French High School in 1947 and entered the work world as a secretary at Calder Pharmacy. Rosa was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and St. Pius X Ladies. Always dear to her heart are the circle of friends that befriended her in special ways through good times as well as bad times. She enjoyed her outings with this group of ladies whom she referred to as her “Christmas Group”. Rosa also looked forward to the class reunions, renewing old acquaintances.

Rosa has as prayer list that wraps around the globe. She was an avid watcher of EWTN for spiritual comfort. Rosa had fond memories of the hospital chaplains from St. Anthony, who were not only her spiritual guides, but also enjoyed the coffee and cookies that were served during her visits. Along with the fond memories is an extended thank you to the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and the classes of Student Nurses.

Rosa was deemed the matriarch of the family and its spiritual guide, who always encouraged prayer and faith in the lives of those around her, especially the children. Her spirit was always high through all of her adversaries. She loved the accumulated flowers, cards, prayers, visits, and phone calls from friends, who were, she said, “some famous and some not so famous.” She was grateful for her extended family of friends and their children, who lovingly called her Aunt Rose. Rosa used her hobbies, the iPad, and puzzles to keep her mind alert and strong. To all who knew her, Rosa was a clear example of courage, hope, and acceptance.

Those left to cherish her memories are her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and four God-daughters, who have been so dear to her. Rosa is preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Anthony Perello; brothers, Grispe, Veto, and Jasper Perello; sisters, Angie Phillips and Frances Davis; sisters-in-law, Neme Perello and Avis Perello; niece, Margaret Perello Kelly; nephews, Keith Perello and Johnny Davis.

Rosa requested a special thanks to be given to Beaumont Home Health, Ameripro, and many health providers who took such good care of her, as well as the doctors and nurses who have kept her in good health. She was especially grateful to her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and God-daughters, who have been very good to her. With a smile, Rosa says, “that’s all folks-see you with the angels.”

A gathering of Miss Perello’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5075 Bigner Road, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rosa Lee Perello’s name to Birthright of Beaumont, 2626 Calder, Suite 201, Beaumont, Texas 77702; or the Catholic Daughters of America, Court of St. Girard and St. Pius X Ladies, 5075 Bigner Road, Beaumont, Texas 77708.

Oh sweet Rosie how you loved the Super Bowl day. We spent many days at mom and dads watching those games back in the day. I know you are all celebrating in Heaven now.
