Ruby “Tootie” Daniels, 96, of Fate, formerly of Beaumont, died Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Essential Living Residential Care, Rockwall. She was born on January 24, 1923, in Port Arthur, to Bessie Easton Crenshaw and Merrell Thomas Mitchell. Tootie was a retired commercial teller.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Halford and her husband, Jim, of Terrell; brother, Sonny Mitchell, of Woodville; sisters, Dinky Saelar, of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Kay Alexander and her husband, Ronnie, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Mark Wharton and his wife, Leslie, of Royse City and Melissa Williams and her husband, Blake, of Celeste; great-grandchildren, Mark Wharton, Jr. and his wife, Brittany, of Garland; Daniel Wharton and Michael Wharton, both of Royse City; Amber Williams, of Abilene; and Andee Williams, of Royse City; great-great-grandchildren, Hailiegh Wharton and Ruby Wharton, both of Garland.

Tootie is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mozelle Radcliff; brother, “Pete” Mitchell; and husband, Wallace “Dan” Daniels.

A gathering for Mrs. Daniels will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Sharon, So sorry to hear about your loss. I know you were very close to your Mom. It is never easy, even though they have been ill. You have both Buddy and my condolences. I have good memories of our riding to school each day. (Even though you didn’t want to talk). Good friends are important. I wish Buddy and I had settled in Texas sometimes. We were very fortunate that we had such a great group of girls to run with. We were unable to make it back this year for the reunion. Perhaps next year we can put together something.
