Thomas “Tom” Barras

November 9, 1950 - June 23, 2018

Thomas “Tom” Andrew Barras, 67, of Beaumont, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on November 9, 1950, to Mary Elizabeth Austin Barras and Andrew James Barras, in Port Arthur, and was a member of the United States Army Reserves. Tom was in the banking industry for twenty-five years and owned Barras Insurance for twenty years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed cooking. The kitchen was his favorite place. Tom was a member of the Rotary Club of Beaumont.

Survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Janice Barras; son, James Barras; sister, Ann Head of Tyler; niece, Holly Head of Tyler; nephew, Nicholas Head, of Austin; mother and father-in-law, Jean and Kenneth Jakino and sister-in-law, Deborah Terry, all of Beaumont; and brother-in-law, John Jakino of Diboll.

A gathering of Mr. Barras’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A private family graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
